Reset & Relaunch: A Mindful Summer Prep Plan for Yoga Teachers

For Yoga and Pilates teachers, the summer can represent a distinct lull, perhaps instead of seeing this as a source of stress, the summer can bring a welcome pause. Classes might quieten down, clients go on holiday, or be lured towards a pimms rather than a sweaty flow; and you might find a little more breathing space in your week. But rather than switching off entirely, this quieter period is the perfect time to plant the seeds for a strong and spacious September.

Absolutely take care of your mental health over the summer and use the time to recharge, but I’d encourage you to find a couple of hours to get your ducks in a row, you won’t regret it. Whether you're a few years in or just starting out, using summer to reflect, tidy up your systems, and gently plan ahead can make all the difference when autumn arrives and students return to their mats in full swing.

Here’s your summer prep plan — designed especially for Yoga, Pilates and Wellness teachers — to reset, refocus and relaunch with ease and confidence.

1. Review and Refresh Your Website

Take a quiet hour with a cup of tea and look through your website with fresh eyes. Ask yourself:

  • If I were a new student, is it obvious where I’m based? Am I answering key questions someone would have without making them hunt out the answers? Would some extra buttons to sign post where customers can go help?

  • Is everything up to date? Any old events? Old venues/ classes? Old pictures?

  • Are my class times and locations clear?

  • Do I explain how to book in a way that feels obvious and easy?

This is also a great time to check for typos, broken links, or missing testimonials. If you're on a mission to get found locally, is it time to learn a bit more about SEO— does every page have a page title with your keywords eg Santosha Yoga | Yoga in Muswell Hill, are your keywords in your headings, is there only one H1 per page? Have you filled out the meta descriptions?

🧰 Not sure where to start? I’ve got an audit for your website for £12 or we can do an extensive personalised version for you?

2. Revisit Your Booking System

Whether you use Momoyoga, Bookwhen, Momence Acuity, or another platform, summer is ideal for ironing out any snags. Is the booking flow smooth? Are your automated emails working as they should? Could you add a welcome sequence, a cancellation policy reminder, or a ‘what to expect’ email?

Often, small tweaks here make a big difference to your students’ experience, and save you hours come September.

3. Map Out Your Autumn Offering

Give yourself space to ask:

  • What do I want to offer in September? Does this still align with my value proposition and target audience?

  • Do I want to add a course, workshop or retreat? (September is OPTIMUM for a Beginner’s Course)

  • What themes are calling me?

Start drafting your class blocks or event ideas now. That way, when August rolls around, you’re not scrambling—you’re calmly pressing ‘go’ on something that’s already well thought-out.

4. Create a Gentle Marketing Plan

Rather than launching everything at once, use the summer months to create a soft build-up to September. You could:

  • Schedule social media posts sharing your autumn timetable

  • Send a short newsletter letting people know what’s coming

  • Offer early bird booking for a September course or block

  • Craft different messages for different channels, such as are there any Facebook groups you can share what you do?

  • Is it worth doing some flyers? Get started on these now. (Blog on this)

  • Are you doing any wellness festivals over the summer? What will you share with people?

It doesn’t need to be loud or pushy….just a gentle reminder that you’re still here, and something lovely is on its way.

🧰 I don’t have a resource to share for this…. but it’s next on my list to create some sort of marketing plan template for you!!

5. Reconnect With Past Students

Summer is a great time to reach out to people who used to come to your classes but have drifted away. A simple message or email—something like:

“You just popped into my head, I hope you’re well! I’m planning my September timetable and would love to see you back on the mat soon!”

Obviously we never want to repeatedly message people, but a one off can be nice and thoughtful, the more personalised the better.

6. Tidy Up Your Google Business Profile

If you teach locally, your Google Business Profile is a quiet superstar. Check that your:

  • You have keywords in your profile text

  • Class times and venues are current

  • Contact info is accurate

  • Photos are recent

  • Reviews are visible

A quick refresh here can really help new students find you when they search “yoga near me” come September.

7. Rest, Reflect, and Dream a Little

This season isn’t just about doing, it’s also about pausing. Let your mind wander a bit. Journal, dream, walk without your phone. So often, the best ideas come when you’re not staring at a to-do list.

Ask yourself:

  • What kind of business do I want to build this year?

  • How do I want my work to feel?

And let your answers guide the way. Perhaps a time to re-consider your Value Proposition

Ready to Start?

You don’t need to do all of this at once. Choose one or two small things to focus on each week. September will thank you for it.

And if you’d like support with your website, booking systems, or local marketing, I’m always happy to help.

If you are feeling a bit lost or you’d like to just properly take the time to learn about marketing, my New Course is really excellent! Maybe that’s not the British way to say that, but I’m so proud of it.

Finally, the summer is a quiet time for me too… if you find my content helpful and you’d like to buy me a coffee, it’s always greatly appreciated.
