Welcome to the second edition of the Yoga Teacher Benchmark — a project designed to shine a light on the real, behind-the-scenes experience of being a yoga teacher in the UK.
With around 1 in 10 UK adults now practising yoga, the demand for skilled, compassionate teachers continues to grow. So too does the number of people stepping into teaching, with estimates suggesting over 10,000–15,000 yoga teachers currently working across the UK. It’s a thriving industry with real economic impact — but it’s also one with no standardised pay, frequent expectations for unpaid work, and a hustle culture that often clashes with the core values of yoga.
